Kevin Gounden is an admitted Advocate practicing at the Durban Bar. He commenced training in the martial arts at the age of 7 years. He first practiced under Lao Tzu Bob Davies at Wu Shin Chi Do martial arts college then later practiced Sankyu Kai Karate and was awarded the rank of Shodan from his teacher Barry Anderson Sensei. He has trained significantly in various other martial arts,  including , Russian Systema, Brazilian Jijutsu (for 4 years) having had the opportunity to train with Luiz  Claudio who is a long time student of Rickson Gracie.

Kevin Gounden Sensei is the only Aikidoist  outside of the United States of America to have successfully passed his 2nd and 3rd Dan testing under Larry Reynosa Shihan in line  with  the stringent testing requirements determined by Steven Seagal Shihan. Kevin Gounden Sensei has been practicing Aikido for the last  25 years and teaching for 15 years and has trained nationally and internationally.
